Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ages do you teach?
I teach ages 5 and up. I also teach teens, adults, and seniors. I recommend for ages 5 to 7 that lessons last thirty minutes at a time, rather than the full hour.
  • How do I sign up for lessons?
If you want to sign up for an in person lesson, more information can be found here
If you want to sign up for a virtual lesson check my calendar here for times available.
  • How much are lessons?
One hour in-person or virtual lesson costs 100 dollars.
A bundle of four lessons costs 95 dollars for each hour lesson.
  • Do I have to use my lesson once a week?
Not necessarily! Typically I find that students want to meet once a week, but once you buy a single lesson or a bundle of four lessons you can spread the lessons out in time how ever you feel comfortable. Sometimes, if a student buys the bundle of four lessons it will last four months, with us meeting once a month.
  • How do I pay for lessons?
The easiest form of payment I accept is PayPal. For virtual lessons, once you find a time on my calendar you will be prompted to pay for the lesson ahead of time, prior to each lesson. If you want a in-person lesson, I will send you a invoice over email and it will need to be paid through PayPal prior to each lesson.
  • Where are the in person lessons?
I teach in person lessons at my art studio at the Center Arts and Studios in the Mill Centre in Hampden, Baltimore, MD. My studio is located at 3000 Chestnut Ave, Suite 338, Baltimore MD 21211. In Frederick I teach at the Frederick Arts Center located in downtown Frederick at 5 East 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
  • How do we stay safe during the in-person private lessons?
I am fully vaccinated and double boosted and if the student or parent prefers I can wear a mask while teaching.
  • How do you go about teaching virtual art lessons?
I have found that virtual teaching has the same benefits as in person teaching. I set up one camera on profile and one on my work station where I can do demonstrations.
Once you find a time to take a lesson on my calendar, you will pay for the lesson and receive a zoom invite link
  • Who supplies the materials?
Students are responsible for supplying the materials and I have my own set of most of every material you can think of for purposes of demonstrating.
Go here to find out about sample lessons you might be interested in and the materials I recommend.
  • For ages 18 and under, does the parent or guardian have to be present in the building?
Yes. I require that when I teach all students 18 and under, that a parent or guardian be present in the building for the duration of the lesson. At the Frederick Arts Council building there is free wifi, tea, coffee, comfy chairs and tables that a parent/guardian can enjoy while I'm teaching. At Craft Castle in Baltimore, there is also free wifi, tea,  water, and tables that a parent/guardian can work at or enjoy while I teach.
  • Do you have a cancelation policy?
Yes. I require 24 hours notice if the lesson needs to be canceled. If I don't receive 24 hour notice, the cost of the lesson is forfeited and can not be refunded.
